Who we are
NeoSeva helps people in Podalakur Mandal, Nellore district, Andhra Pradesh, find someone nearby for local work. It has two Android apps:
- NeoSeva, for customers who need local work.
- NeoSeva Partner, for Seva partners: the local people who do the work, such as electricians, plumbers, motor mechanics, and tractor, JCB and transport owners.
NeoSeva™ is a sole proprietorship, at Marripalli, Marripalle Gopasamudram, Podalakur, SPSR Nellore district, Andhra Pradesh 524345, India.
This policy covers both apps and this website. It says what we collect, why, who sees it, where it is kept, how long we keep it, and what you can do. "We" means NeoSeva. "You" means anyone who uses either app or this website.
One phone number is one person. If you use both apps with the same number, they share one account.
What we collect, and why
Your phone number (both apps)
- You sign in with an Indian mobile number (+91). We send a one-time code (OTP) to it by SMS, or read the code out to you in a phone call.
- We use your number to know it is you, and so that you and the person you book, or who books you, can call each other.
- Your phone can suggest your own number, and can put in the code from the SMS for you. Each happens only when you tap. Neither app has permission to read your text messages.
Your name
- NeoSeva: we ask your name once, the first time you send a request, after your number is checked. The Seva partner you book sees it.
- NeoSeva Partner: you give your name when you join. Customers see it with your price.
A Seva partner's photo and ID check (NeoSeva Partner)
- Your photo. A photo of your face is needed to join. Customers see it when you send a price, and we use it to check who you are. It is kept at a web address the apps use to show it, so anyone who has that address can open it.
- Your ID check. Before you get work, you send a photo of one government ID (voter ID card, driving licence, PAN card or passport) and a photo of your face. The photo you joined with can be used as the face. We do not accept Aadhaar, and we do not ask for bank details or certificates.
- Who checks it. A person at NeoSeva looks at the two photos and decides. We keep the result: whether it passed, which kind of ID, who decided, when, and any note we wrote to you.
- The ID photos are deleted once the check is decided. That means the photo of your ID, and any face photo taken only for the check. If we ask you to send them again, we keep them until the new ones arrive. Your profile photo stays, because it is the face customers see. ID photos are kept in private storage, and neither app ever shows them back.
- How photos are sent. Before a photo leaves your phone, the app makes it smaller, turns it the right way up, and removes everything else the camera stored with it, including where it was taken. A photo the app asked your camera to take is deleted from your phone once it is sent. A photo you chose from your phone stays where it was.
Places and the exact spot (NeoSeva)
- The village where you need the work, and, if you want, a landmark near it that you type, like a shop, school or temple.
- The exact spot, only if you say you are standing at the work site. Then your phone tells the app where it is, and we save that spot with how sure the phone was. The spot has to be in the village you chose, or just outside its edge. If you are somewhere else, no spot is saved, and the Seva partner calls you instead.
- Saved places. You can save a place under a name you pick, such as Home or My field, with its landmark and spot. You can remove a saved place at any time.
Requests, prices and jobs (both apps)
- A request: the work, your answers to its questions, the day and part of the day, the village and spot, the Seva partner you asked for if you asked for one by name, and where in the app you started it.
- A price: the amount or rate, the part of the day the Seva partner can come, and any short note they add.
- A job: the price booked and what the work came to, when the Seva partner set off and arrived, how the job finished or why it ended, the completion code and how many wrong codes were tried, and any reason or note given when cancelling or reporting a problem.
- A Seva partner's work: the work you do, the machines you bring, your village, how far you travel, how long you have done this work, whether you are taking new work, and which version of our terms you agreed to and when.
Reviews (NeoSeva)
After a finished job you can say how it went: Not good, Okay or Very good, with short reasons you tap, like "Came on time", and anything you choose to write. We use reviews to decide which Seva partners earn the "Top rated" mark, and whether a Seva partner keeps getting work. No score or average is shown to anybody.
Help requests (both apps)
When you ask us for a call, we keep the topic, the job if it is about one, your Token number, the notes our team writes when we call you, and the line we close it with. A problem you report on a job also opens a Help request. When a customer says a Seva partner did not come, the Seva partner's answer is kept with the job.
Money (NeoSeva Partner)
- Your balance and passbook: every line, with the job it was for, what the job came to, and the reason each time our team changed your balance.
- Each payment you make to add money: the amount, Razorpay's reference numbers, and whether it went through. Razorpay's message to us about each payment includes the UPI ID it was paid from, and your phone number, which we give Razorpay.
- Refunds: the amount, Razorpay's refund number, and how and when it was paid.
- You approve each payment in your own UPI app. To show your UPI apps as buttons, NeoSeva Partner checks which UPI apps are on your phone. This check is done by Razorpay's payment code inside the app. That code can also see which other apps are on your phone, and read basic details about the phone. NeoSeva does not use these, and we plan to take them out.
Places we do not serve, and work we do not list (NeoSeva)
If your village is not served yet, you can tell us its name, and a mobile number if you want us to tell you when NeoSeva comes. We keep the name and the number, never a location. If you tell us about work that is not on our list, we keep what you typed, and a number if you give one. We keep that number until you ask us to delete it.
Your phone and notifications (both apps)
- Each install of an app gets its own id. We keep it with your phone's notification address, which app it is and your language, so notifications reach the right phone in the language you chose.
- Android asks you once whether NeoSeva may send notifications: in NeoSeva, the first time your request goes out, and in NeoSeva Partner, while you join.
- Each call from the apps to our server says which app it is and its version.
Server logs
Our server keeps a record of what it does: which part of the app was used, whether it worked, and when. A line can include your account's internal number, and, when a text message to you fails, your phone number. Sign-in codes and completion codes are kept out of it.
What we do not collect
- Neither app has permission to read your contacts or your text messages.
- Neither app listens to or records your voice.
- The NeoSeva app does not ask for photos.
- We do not take Aadhaar.
- Neither app follows your location in the background.
How we use location
We ask where the work is. We read where your phone is only at these moments:
- NeoSeva uses your phone's location at two moments, and only if you allow it:
- "Find my place". The app reads the phone's location once, and our server uses it to find which village it is in. The server does not keep it. You can always choose your village from the list instead.
- Saving the exact spot, after you say you are at the work site. Only the Seva partner you book sees it.
- NeoSeva Partner uses your phone's location at two moments, and only if you allow it:
- "Find my place", when you join or change your village. Our server uses it once to find which village it is in, and does not keep it.
- When you tap "I have arrived". We record where you were and how sure the phone was. It helps you if there is ever a disagreement about the job. You can mark your arrival without it, and weak or missing location never counts against you.
- When a job is finished, we may use that arrival point to make the customer's saved place more exact, but only if it is close to the spot they gave.
- When a Seva partner taps for directions, the app passes the spot, or the village if there is no spot, to their own maps app.
Who sees your information
The other person on a job
| Who | What they see | When |
|---|---|---|
| Seva partners who do that work, travel to that place and are taking work | The work and your answers, the village, the day and part of the day, whether your number is checked, and how many jobs you finished on NeoSeva. Not your name, number, landmark or exact spot | When your request goes out |
| The Seva partner you book | Also your name, phone number, landmark and exact spot, and how sure the phone was about the spot | From the moment you book |
| Customers who get your price | Your name and photo, "ID checked", how many jobs you finished, "Top rated" if you earned it, the machines you bring, your price and note, and the part of the day you can come. Never your phone number | When you send a price |
| The customer who books you | Also your phone number | From the moment they book |
No other Seva partner sees your number or exact spot. If you tap Call or WhatsApp on a job, the app opens your phone's dialler or WhatsApp with the other person's number.
After an account is deleted, the other person's history keeps the job, shown as "No longer on NeoSeva", with no name, photo or number. Reviews stay, with no name.
Our team
NeoSeva's team runs the service from an admin console. It shows names, phone numbers, jobs, balances and ID photos waiting to be checked, so we can check IDs, call you back, close a stuck job, handle money and carry out deletion requests. Every change made there, every look at an ID photo and every sign-in to it is written down and kept for a year.
The companies that help us run NeoSeva
| Company | What it does for us | What it receives | Where |
|---|---|---|---|
| Render | Runs our server | Everything the apps send to us | Singapore |
| Supabase | Holds our database and stored photos | Everything we keep, including photos | Singapore |
| 2Factor (2factor.in) | Sends sign-in codes by SMS or phone call | Your phone number and the message | Collected by 2Factor, under its own privacy policy |
| Firebase Cloud Messaging, by Google | Delivers notifications to your phone | Your phone's notification address and the words of each notification | Wherever Google has data centres, which can be outside India |
| Razorpay | Takes Seva partners' UPI payments and sends refunds | The amount, the Seva partner's phone number, our own reference numbers, and a NeoSeva email address in place of yours | India |
When the law requires it
If the law requires it, we give information to the police, a court or another government body.
Where your information is kept
- Our server and database are run by Render and Supabase in Singapore, so your information is kept outside India.
- Each company in the table above keeps what it needs for its own job.
- On your phone, the app keeps you signed in. Logging out ends that session and stops notifications to that phone.
How long we keep it
- While your account is open, we keep what the apps need: your requests, jobs, places and, for Seva partners, your profile and passbook.
- ID photos: until the check is decided.
- Notifications we sent: 30 days after sending.
- Records of what our team did in the console, including each look at an ID photo: one year.
- Server logs: a rolling 180 days.
After you delete your account
Deleting hides your account at once and erases it 30 days later. Logging in within the 30 days brings it back. On day 30, everything about you is erased or made anonymous, except:
| What we keep | How long | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Your phone number and names, sealed away so that neither app nor our team's console can see them | 180 days after the erase, then deleted | The IT (Intermediary Guidelines) Rules, 2021 |
| Money records: amount, date, type, Razorpay's order, payment and refund numbers, and our internal number for the Seva partner. No name | 7 tax years | Income tax law |
| Bookings, as the other person's history: the work, the date, the amounts and how it ended. Not the exact spot, landmark, description or photos | At least a year from the job | The Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025 |
| If a Seva partner received NeoSeva's welcome gift: a scrambled code made from the phone number, never the number itself, that only says the gift was given | For as long as NeoSeva gives a welcome gift | To stop the same number getting the gift twice |
| Server logs | A rolling 180 days | India's cyber security directions (CERT-In, 2022) |
The phone number can be used for a new account from day 30. Some records stay with no name on them, such as a review you gave, a Token you raised, and the record that your account was deleted.
How we protect it
- Sign-in codes go only to Indian mobile numbers. A code has six digits, lasts five minutes, allows five tries, and is stored only in scrambled form. Each new code for the same number takes longer to ask for, up to five minutes.
- On phones that support it, your sign-in is sealed with a key from the phone's own secure store, the Android Keystore, so a copy of the app's files cannot be used on another phone.
- Our server checks that each job, booking or ID asked for belongs to the person asking, so changing a number in what the app sends does not open someone else's.
- Photos are checked to be real pictures, and the apps remove location data from them.
- Payment messages are checked to really come from Razorpay.
- Every table in our database is locked against outside access through Supabase's own web interface, which NeoSeva does not use.
- Our team's console needs a username and a password, makes each try wait after five wrong passwords in a row, and writes down every change, every look at an ID photo and every sign-in, kept for a year.
- Every change to our code is checked for passwords or keys left in it, and our server's software is checked for known security holes.
- Our live server does not start unless sign-in is on.
Your choices and rights
- See your information. Most of it is in the apps: your requests, jobs, saved places and saved Seva partners, and, for Seva partners, your profile, ID check result and passbook.
- Correct it. Seva partners can change any answer from setting up, from Profile: name, photo, village, work and how far you travel. Customers can remove a saved place. For anything else, ask us through Help.
- Location and notifications. You can say no, or stop them later in your phone's settings. You can always choose your village from the list instead, and a Seva partner can mark arrival without location. Without notifications you may miss new prices or new work.
- Delete your account, in the app or by asking us. See below.
- Ask a question or complain, through Help or our grievance officer, below.
- Ask for a summary of the information we keep about you, what we do with it, and which companies we shared it with. Ask through Help, or by email.
- Name someone to act for you if you die or cannot act yourself. Ask through Help, or by email.
- Take a complaint further. If our answer does not settle your complaint, you can take it to the Data Protection Board of India.
Deleting your account
- In either app, open Profile and tap "Delete my profile", then confirm. Two taps, no code. The apps say "profile"; it means your whole account.
- If a job is booked or under way, it has to be finished or cancelled first. The app shows you which job.
- Your account is hidden at once and erased 30 days later. Log in within the 30 days and your account comes back.
- You can also ask us to delete it without the app. See Delete your account.
Children
NeoSeva is for people aged 18 and over. The apps do not ask anyone's age. If we learn that someone under 18 is using NeoSeva, we delete their account.
